Trichloroacetic Acid Peel Print E-mail
Trichloroacetic acid or TCA is a peel that is used in the treatment of fine wrinkling of the skin. Tricholoracetic acid treatments can be used in varying concentrations from as low as 10% to as high as 50%. The higher the concentration, the deeper the peel. Trichloroacetic acid can result in significant and persistent redness of the skin and ultimate depigmentation much the same way that laser abrasion and phenol peels can. When used in a controlled fashion by a physician, TCA peels can produce marked improvement in collagen and elastin in the skin and reducing fine wrinkling. This is an excellent tool for people who have dynamic wrinkles, or wrinkles when they animate their face, but no significant wrinkling when the patient's face is inanimate.
