Emollients Print E-mail
Emollients are substances that soften and soothe the skin. They are used to correct dryness and scaling of the skin. They are an important ingredient in lipstick, lotions and other cosmetic products. The term moisturizer and emollient basically mean the same thing. A moisturizer is something that adds moisture while an emollient is something that softens. However the term emollient is most often used to describe single ingredients, whereas moisturizer describes finished products.
