Cinnamates Print E-mail
Cinnamates are derivatives of cinnamon that provide protection against the sun in the range of 280-310 nm. They are chemically related to balsam of Peru, coca leaves, cinnamic aldehyde, and cinnamic oil. People with sensitivities to these chemicals may get an allergic reaction to sunscreen containing cinnamates. The cinnamates are much less potent than padimate O and require the addition of UVB absorbers to achieve higher SPF.
