| Abietic acid is a texturizer used in the making of soaps. It is a natural acid which is not soluble in water, and is prepared from pine rosin. It is usually composed of particulate matter. Abietic acid can irritate human skin and mucous membranes, causing allergic reaction. It is also known as sylvic acid. |
